Experiencing Metformin Side Effects?

Mar 23 2021

Are you having gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, loose stools) while taking metformin? Did you know that there are ways to help prevent these side effects?

If you are taking Metformin Hydrochloride, the first suggestion is switching to the EXTENDED RELEASE Metformin Hydrochloride. This helps significantly reduce gastrointestinal symptoms related with metformin use. Start with 500mg of Metformin Hydrochloride once a day and increase gradually to the prescribed dose. This helps your body adjust to the medication without experiencing all of it’s possible unwanted side effects.

Metformin should always be taken with food! You can take it right before you eat or right after you eat. It should not be taken on an empty stomach as it can be irritating.

Long term use of metformin can lead to Vitamin B12 deficiency. It is recommended that you have your Vitamin B12 level checked to make sure that you are not lacking B12.
